'Trust me': Declan Rice says England fans need to be excited by what he's seen in training

Declan Rice has made a passionate England rallying cry, insisting that the Three Lions will come good under Gareth Southgate.

England were beaten yet against in the Nation’s League by Italy last night and as a result, Southgate’s side have been relegated down to League B.

The Three Lions are currently in the midst of a woeful run of form that has seen them go five games without a win.

In spite of that poor run, Declan Rice has already sent a strong message of hope to the England fans by suggesting that there is no need to worry about the current group of players.

The bottom line is that our performances simply haven’t been good enough. And Gareth Southgate is now under real pressure heading into the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Rice believes all will be fine though…

Declan Rice issues bold England claim

The West Ham skipper was one of the few England players to emerge from last night’s defeat to Italy with any kind of credit in the bank.

And Dec told reporters last night how there are still bright times ahead for the Three Lions:

It’s obviously disappointing. Every tournament we go to, we set up to win the group and go on and win the games. Obviously in the nation’s League, we slipped below out standards, but I didn’t think it was all bad tonight. One chance for them and one goal. We controlled the game, passed the ball around well but just lacked that cutting edge in the end. It’s coming. Much better performances than in the summer. It’s not that we’re not creating the chances. I see it in training, there are goals for fun, trust me, we’re going to be good.

It’s clear to see that Declan Rice is still very confident about England succeeding out in Qatar.

We have to say though, Gareth Southgate’s defensive approach to games really needs to change, if we are to achieve any kind of success out in the Middle East this winter.

Southgate has to realise that he has a seriously talented group of players at his disposal. And setting up to win games from the outset is the route that he needs to take.

Declan Rice has urged the England fans to trust the process. Whether anything changes in time for the World Cup in Qatar remains to be seen though.
