Teenage strike sensation Sonny Perkins is in the travelling West Ham squad for Thursday evening’s Europa League clash with Rapid Wien.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference in Austria this evening, David Moyes revealed striker Michail Antonio has not travelled with West Ham for the game.

The Hammers travelled to Austria to face Rapid Wien knowing a win – and possibly even a draw – will secure their place at the top of Group H and a spot in the last 16 of the Europa League.

Teen strike sensation Sonny Perkins in travelling West Ham squad for Europa League clash with Rapid Wien

And Hammers News can reveal that teen strike sensation Perkins has travelled with the squad for the game.

Moyes blooded Perkins’s Under 23 teammate Dan Chesters briefly in the home game against Genk.

And with Antonio left at home, there is every chance 17-year-old Perkins will be in the matchday squad and therefore in with a chance of making his West Ham debut.

The brilliant West Ham youngster has been earning rave reviews this season.

He made his mark for the England under 18 side earlier this month by scoring in their 3-2 defeat to the Netherlands.

The Hammers starlet is very highly rated at the London Stadium. He has been in fine form for West Ham’s youth teams so far this season.

Perkins started the season as an attacking midfielder but has been increasingly used as a forward including for England.

One of Perkins old coaches backed the West Ham starlet for the very top after his England goal.

Perkins possesses great pace and is a lovely finisher.

If he does get his big chance off the bench against Rapid Wien, then playing with better players around him may only bring the best out in him.

Hammers News can confirm Perkins has travelled to Austria with the squad.

So West Ham fans will be excited to see if he gets any game time in Vienna.

Given the match is behind closed doors due to lockdown in Austria – not that West Ham fans could have attended anyway due to the UEFA ban – supporters will be tuning into BT Sport’s coverage in their droves.

Don’t forget it’s a 5.45pm kick-off.

Come. On. You. Irons.
