Sevilla post Tweet about West Ham and goad Hammers by using ex Spurs man Erik Lamela

Sevilla have posted a Tweet about West Ham and appear to have goaded the Hammers by using ex Spurs man Erik Lamela.

West Ham travel to Seville for the first leg of their big Europa League last 16 clash this Thursday evening.

It comes with the Hammers fighting on two fronts for European qualification this season.

My Europa League Predictions.

In the Premier League, West Ham and bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur are two of five clubs fighting for fourth spot and a place in the Champions League.

For those who don’t make it, places in the Europa League and the Conference League – which Tottenham featured in this season before being kicked out for failing to fulfil a fixture with Rennes – will be the consolation.

West Ham have thoroughly enjoyed and embraced their Europa League adventure this season.

But David Moyes’s side were handed arguably the toughest draw for the last 16 when four-time Europa League winners and two-time UEFA Cup champs Sevilla were pulled out of the hat.

There has been mixed news for West Ham ahead of the big match.

Hammers fans will be hoping Declan Rice will be back after illness forced him out of the defeat to Liverpool at the weekend.

But the match looks like it will come too soon for in-form Jarrod Bowen who was forced off with a heel injury at Anfield.

Sevilla, though, are suffering something of an injury crisis and have hit a sticky patch in their brilliant season.

It looks like the mind games have started already ahead of the massive tie.

That’s after Sevilla posted a Tweet about West Ham and appear to be goading them using ex Spurs man Lamela as bait.

There is no love lost between West Ham and Tottenham.

And West Ham fans can’t stand Lamela from his time at Spurs where he had a reputation for being a wind-up merchant, notably goading Hammers supporters after scoring at the London Stadium.

“Preparations starting for West Ham!” Sevilla posted alongside a picture of Lamela in training ahead of the game.

Sevilla have a big and talented squad. So the fact they have chosen Lamela of all people is a clear attempt to wind West Ham up ahead of the clash.

Let’s hope we can keep Lamela quiet because we all know Tottenham fans would love nothing more than to see their former player get one over on us.

West Ham play Tottenham away after the second leg of the Sevilla tie later this month.
