West Ham United fans are getting hyped up for Thursday night’s Europa League group stage opener against Dinamo Zagreb.

Thousands of West Ham fans are heading to Croatia on the first leg of the club’s European tour.

West Ham are in the Europa League group stages for the first time.

And David Moyes’s side kick things off with possibly the toughest match they will face in the group stage – away to Dinamo Zagreb.

Excitement building for West Ham’s Europa League opener

Plans for a big West Ham meet up – and any mass gatherings of Hammers fans – have been cancelled by local police.

But West Ham did manage to secure over 700 extra tickets for the match meaning more travelling supporters can actually attend.

The rest of us will have to settle for watching the game on BT Sport – with former Hammer Joe Cole revealing who will be heading up coverage of West Ham’s European matches.

Fans have been debating all week what kind of team Moyes should put out.

Debate raging over which way Moyes should go with team selection

One camp argues that West Ham worked hard all last season to get to the Europa League and should therefore field a strong team to go as far as they can.

Others feel Moyes should field a weakened side and prioritise Sunday’s Premier League clash with Manchester United.

As third favourites for the competition, though, West Ham must surely fancy their chances. And at the end of the day this is another route to Champions League qualification for the winner.

The buzz is building ahead of the 5.45pm kick off on Thursday.

Video of Europa League theme song and video has fans buzzing ahead of Dinamo

And that is being helped in no small part by the Europa League theme song and intro video doing the rounds among West Ham fans on social media and WhatsApp.

It may not be as iconic as the Champions League theme and video. But fans love it.

And after the European Super League shenanigans, many feel the Europa League is very much the people’s European tournament.

Fans have been loving the video and sharing it widely.

And as one account posted on Twitter – ‘It’s almost time’.
