West Ham are keen on signing Galatasaray ace Christian Luyindama, according to Turkish media outlet Foto Spor.
The centre-back joined the Turkish giants on a permanent £4.9 million deal in the summer, according to Anadolu Agency News.
The Hammers do seem to have some problems in central defence this season.
Fabian Balbuena proved to be a great addition for West Ham last season, but his performance levels seem to have fallen off a cliff this term.
Angelo Ogbonna has stepped in, but there are also question marks about the Italian’s quality at the very highest level.
So would Luyindama be an upgrade on what Manuel Pellegrini already has at his disposal?
The 25-year-old is a big, powerful central defender. Standing at 6ft 3in, the Democratic Republic of Congo international is commanding in the air. He is not the quickest along the ground, but he is an excellent reader of the game.
Luyindama has a robust playing style that seems to be ideally suited to the intense nature of the Premier League.
Quite how much West Ham would have to pay for the Galatasaray defender is unclear.
He has real quality, however, and the Hammers should not think twice about enquiring for the centre-back at the very least.
And if Pellegrini does bring Luyindama to the London Stadium, he might just turn out to be a really useful addition for West Ham
