Amidst all the transfer deadline day speculation and disappointment there was a glimmer of good news for West Ham United.
West Ham are enduring a torrid time at the moment.
Three consecutive defeats have seen Manuel Pellegrini’s side drop out of the most open FA Cup for decades.
A pathetic performance in a 4-2 defeat to League One basement boys AFC Wimbledon saw to that.

Miserable start to 2019 for West Ham
Not only did that leave fans red-faced, it denied West Ham a fifth round tie against arch rivals Millwall.
The Hammers have also dropped down to 12th in the Premier League.
Nine goals conceded in three games and an ever-growing injury list have made for a thoroughly miserable start to the new year.
So when the Hammers failed to do any business on deadline day it did little to improve the mood of supporters.

Quiet deadline day leaves fans frustrated
The likes of strikers Maxi Gomez and Michy Batshuayi were linked but failed to materialise.
West Ham desperately need to rediscover their form and get back to winning ways.
They face a daunting task when they entertain Premier League leaders Liverpool next time out on Monday night.
That is followed by a trip to improving London rivals Crystal Palace.
But Pellegrini could be boosted by an announcement from the FA on deadline day that means Eagles star man Wilfried Zaha could miss that match.

Potential Zaha absence the best news West Ham had on deadline day?
Zaha has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association following his side’s 1-1 draw at Southampton (BBC Sport).
The charge follows Zaha’s sarcastic applause of referee Andre Marriner in the game against Southampton.
The Ivory Coast international scored in that game and is Palace’s biggest threat.
Without him Palace have a dismal record. So should Zaha be hit with a further ban West Ham will fancy their chances.
