James Ward-Prowse’s exile at West Ham United could be set to continue for another few days at least despite the midfielder being the subject of transfer talks.
It does not take a genius to suggest that Ward-Prowse has no future at West Ham.
The 31-year-old does not feature in Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans and will seemingly remain in something of an internal exile as long as he is the manager.

It’s also important to say that Ward-Prowse has hardly convinced when he has actually played for the club since joining from Southampton in the summer of 2023.
Whatever way one looks at it, his move to east London has been a disaster and the only way to salvage even something is the England international heading out on loan and raising his value elsewhere.
Indeed, Burnley are interested in Ward-Prowse, and there has now been an update.

According to Sky Sports, Burnley have indeed held talks with the Hammers over the prospect of a loan move.
The Clarets, managed by a former West Ham captain in Scott Parker, are chasing an experienced Premier League operator following an injury to Josh Cullen.
Sky, however, go on to add that nothing is expected to develop on the Ward-Prowse front until after Burnley play Tottenham on Saturday.

West Ham should be delighted if James Ward-Prowse joins Burnley
Like West Ham, Burnley are struggling against relegation.
As such, a player with Ward-Prowse’s experience could feasibly get regular minutes under Parker.
That could help West Ham, even if the Clarets do not sign him permanently.
Ward-Prowse desperately needs to put himself in some sort of shop window. Though recouping the £30million spent on him seems remote at best, West Ham could do with him commanding some sort of transfer fee.
Ward-Prowse needs to leave West Ham and a club like Burnley would represent a good move.
