West Ham will send representatives to Italy to watch an Italian derby clash this weekend. Genoa and Sampdoria are set to lock horns in Serie A with West Ham scouts watching on.
According to Calciomercato, West Ham are very interested in Genoa striker Christian Kouame and could swoop for him this summer.
The young striker is valued at more than €25m, which roughly equates to £21.5m. The Hammers are looking for new strikers and Kouame could be a key target.
Who is Christian Kouame?
Kouame is a highly-rated young striker who has helped Genoa to 13th place in Serie A this season. Victory in the derby against Sampdoria could ease Genoa’s relegation worries.
The 21-year-old has played in 31 league matches this season, predominantly operating in the centre-forward spot but also featuring out wide.
Kouame has scored four goals this season and has provided five assists but his goalscoring record is expected to improve with more experience.
The Ivorian striker joined the Italian top-flight side from Cittadella last summer after scoring 13 goals for the Serie B side.
West Ham are set to run the rule over Kouame in this weekend’s clash with Sampdoria and could launch a summer bid.
With the futures of Marko Arnautovic, Andy Carroll, Javier Hernandez and Lucas Perez in doubt, Kouame might not be the only striker in West Ham’s sights.
