West Ham United will beat two of the biggest clubs in European football to an exciting striker signing imminently.
West Ham have changed their transfer policy to signing talented young and hungry stars under Manuel Pellegrini and director of football Mario Husillos.
And that looks set to continue with the imminent arrival of Manchester United youngster Ademipo Odubeko.
Reports claim highly-rated striker is set for West Ham
The highly-rated Republic of Ireland teenager snubbed a new deal with the Red Devils over the summer.
While West Ham fans may not know much about Odubeko, Manchester United’s determination to hold on to him and interest from some of Europe’s top clubs is proof enough of his talents.
According to Football Insider West Ham have beaten off both Juventus and Atletico Madrid to sign the striker.
Hammers to beat European giants to Odubeko?
So the signing will be quite the coup if it is confirmed.
West Ham have signed a number of promising young strikers in recent years with little success.
Toni Martinez, Xande Silva – who will be given more time to impress after spending an extended spell out with illness – and Albian Ajeti are three examples.
Teenager on next level to likes of Silva and Ajeti?
Ajeti needs more time and opportunities but failed to shine in his two games so far this season.
Odubeko is considered to be on another level to any of those forwards, though.
Manchester United were desperate to keep him and Juventus and Atletico do not go after second rate players.
Exciting times if the reports prove correct.
