The German club are looking to raise around £20 million for the powerful midfielder (Express).
David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his defensive midfield ranks at the London Stadium this summer.
The Scot needs to provide more quality competition and cover for Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.
The Hammers have already been linked with numerous central midfielders. And now there is another name to add to the list.

West Ham want Ellyes Skhiri
The 26-year-old is on the Hammers’ radar according to German media outlet Express.
The 35-capped Tunisia international is a defensive midfielder by trade. He is incredibly versatile as well and can operate at centre-back and right-back.
With West Ham keen to bolster in so many different positions, signing Skhiri for £20 million would be a really smart move from Moyes.
The Cologne ace is a dynamic, powerful central midfielder. He is aggressive and tenacious in the tackle.

He’s got an eye for a goal and a key pass as well.
In 32 Bundesliga games last season, Skhiri racked up five goals and three assists (Transfermarkt).
At 26, he is at the ideal age to make the move to the Premier League from the Bundesliga. He has all of the attributes needed to succeed in England.
