West Ham United are eyeing a really exciting transfer before deadline day it seems.

West Ham head coach Graham Potter has admitted himself that he needs to make some new signings this month.

That will be easier said than done – the January transfer window is always a notoriously difficult time to get deals done.

Potter needs to sign a new striker and a powerful central midfielder before the window slams shut.

We have so many key players out injured right now, and Potter has a decimated squad at his disposal.

The good news is that West Ham are definitely active in the market.

And one new name has been linked with a move to the Hammers today.

West Ham eye Tyler Morton swoop in the January window

Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton is said to be on the Hammers’ transfer radar.

According to a report from talkSPORT, Potter is keen to bring the Liverpool youngster to the London Stadium before deadline day.

Morton, who’s played 38 minutes for Liverpool in the Champions League this season, is a defensive midfielder by trade.

However, he can operate as an orthodox central midfielder as well.

The 22-year-old is a real talent, and is technically gifted with the ball at his feet.

If he’s available for a decent price, I think he’s exactly the kind of signing the Hammers should be making.

However, I would prefer West Ham to bring a more athletic, powerful box-to-box midfielder to the London Stadium in the January transfer window.

Morton is a great talent, but he’s not blessed with any kind of physical prowess.

Give me someone like Ezechiel Banzuzi before deadline day, and maybe then focus on players like Tyler Morton in the summer.
