West Ham United want an exciting young star who has been tracked by Liverpool for months.
That’s according to a new report from respected German outlet Der Spiegel, West Ham are now keen on Liverpool target Milot Rashica.
Hammers boss David Moyes has made no secret of his desire to build a new-look West Ham side around young, hungry players (whufc.com).
Moyes and Klopp to battle it out for Rashica – report
And 23-year-old Rashica fits that profile as one of the hottest prospects in the Bundesliga.
The Kosovo international has 23 goals and 11 assists in just 64 games for Werder Bremen.
And the report claims the Hammers might just have an unexpected edge over the Reds.
Hammers could have the edge thanks to deadly duo
Because Rashica is not overly enamoured at the prospect of stagnating on the bench in the shadow of Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Rashica is valued at around £33million.
But Werder Bremen look increasingly likely to be relegated from the Bendesliga.
And Der Spiegel reveals that would see the attacker’s release clause kick in at a bargain £17million.
“Liverpool would be at the front of the queue as far as interest from the Premier League goes, although Rashica might look elsewhere to avoid stagnating behind the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah,” Der Spiegel claims.
Exciting times in prospect if Moyes is allowed to build his way
West Ham have been heavily linked with a host of players since football was shut down due to the global health crisis.
Moyes is reportedly interested in a host of players plying their trade in the Championship and France.
But a move for Rashica would comfortably be the most exciting of the lot.
West Ham and Liverpool may also have to fend off interest from Borussia Dortmund. But only IF they sell Jadon Sancho in the next window.
