West Ham United's Nikola Milenkovic pursuit becomes a lot clearer as report makes big claim

West Ham United’s hopes of signing Nikola Milenkovic could finally be over with Fiorentina demanding a massive fee for the centre-back.

Hammers boss David Moyes is well-known to be on the look-out for a top-class central defensive addition this month.

Angelo Ogbonna is out for the entire season and still isn’t expected back for at least another six months or so.

The 27-year-old could be back as soon as tomorrow against Leeds United, however, according to club insiders Claret and Hugh.

Moyes will surely still be keen to bring another centre-back to the London Stadium though.

One man to have been linked with a move to West Ham consistently over the past year or so is Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic ( and Tuttomercatoweb).

The towering centre-half would be a superb addition for the Hammers. Our hopes of signing him seem to have hit a snag though…

West Ham United’s Nikola Milenkovic hopes dead in the water as Fiorentina demand huge fee?

According to a report from the Sun, Fiorentina are demanding a massive £37.5 million fee for the Serbia international this month.

There is absolutely no way the Hammers will be paying anything like that for one single player this month.

On top of that, Newcastle are interested in signing Milenkovic as well, according to the Sun.

CalcioMercato reported back in November that David Moyes is very keen to bring the 24-year-old to the London Stadium in the January transfer window.

Perhaps this is one we should just move on from though.

We tried to sign him in the summer and failed after his agent made extortionate demands (Firenze Viola). There’s only so much time Moyes should spend on securing his targets.

If the Scots fails in doing so, he needs to move onto the next one promptly.

And the Nikola Milenkovic saga is the perfect example of that. His new £37.5 million price-tag should all but end any chance West Ham had of signing him anyway.

And in truth, we’re not unhappy about that. Milenkovic is a very good centre-half but he’s not worth that kind of money.
