West Ham United are ‘genuinely interested’ in signing Watford ace Ismaila Sarr according to a report from The Athletic.
The Hammers were first linked with a move to sign the 22-year-old speed demon by the Sun last weekend.
At the time, the West Ham fans thought the rumour was fanciful to say the least.
Mainly because of the £30 million fee mooted for Sarr.
West Ham interest in Ismaila Sarr is ‘genuine’
It appears as though the Hammers are in fact chasing the Senegal international’s signature, however.
The Athletic claims that West Ham are genuinely interested in signing Sarr.
Watford will not even listen to offers below £40 million, however, according to The Athletic. Meanwhile, it is suggested that the Hammers may well be in the market for more of an orthodox, out and out centre-forward anyway.
Electric and explosive Sarr would be a real statement signing from West Ham
The 22-year-old Watford ace would be a sensational addition for the Hammers. It must be noted, however, that is more of a winger, although he can play through the middle if needed.
Sarr has racked up 10 goals and 11 assists in 49 games for the Hornets (Transfermarkt).
The 22-year-old is a frightening talent with explosive pace. It just seems very unrealistic that we will be signing him this month.
Unless the West Ham owners have a huge surprise up their sleeves, there is no way we will be paying £40 million for one player this month.
Perhaps if West Ham manage to sell Felipe Anderson, Ryan Fredericks and Andriy Yarmolenko then we might have a chance off bringing Sarr to the London Stadium.
We won’t be holding our breath, however.
