According to a report from The Athletic, West Ham United are confident of signing Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham on loan this summer.

Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his centre-forward ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

We absolutely cannot head into next season with Michail Antonio as our only option through the middle.

The problem for Moyes is that he will have minimal funds to play with in the summer.

West Ham hopeful of Tammy Abraham deal

The Hammers have been linked with a move to sign the 23-year-old Chelsea ace for months now (Eurosport).

David Moyes recently suggested that West Ham would not be able to prise the six-capped England international away from Stamford Bridge due to Thomas Tuchel’s £40 million asking price, however.

The Athletic are now claiming that the Hammers are still hopeful of securing a deal to sign Tammy on loan, however.

That is due to the fact that other interested parties, namely Aston Villa and Newcastle, are not willing to meet Chelsea’s £40 million demands either.

If we do manage to sign Abraham on loan, it will be vitally important that we have an option to buy him included in the deal as well.

West Ham signing Tammy Abraham would be a big statement

The 23-year-old would be an exceptional addition for West Ham. He is incredibly mobile, has a lot of pace and is a great finisher. He’s pretty good in the air as well.

Abraham has 12 goals and six assists to his name for Chelsea this season (Transfermarkt). 18 goal involvements in just 1500 minutes of football is a mighty impressive return.

The 23-year-old is good friends with Declan Rice according to ExWHUemployee. That may well be our secret weapon this summer.

Abraham may also be keen to stay in London. Qualifying for Europe could be a key factor as well.

Whatever happens, West Ham just have to get a deal for Tammy over the line. And The Athletic reckons that there is a good chance of that happening in the summer.
