West Ham look set for an exciting end to the January transfer window but it will be double frustration for Everton and their old boss David Moyes.
West Ham have already dealt Everton’s new owners a major blow this month.
When it emerged the Toffees wanted to replace Sean Dyche with Graham Potter, the Hammers were forced to finally pull the trigger on Julen Lopetegui.
West Ham had put Potter on standby as they deliberated over Lopetegui’s future.
Everton then got serious about Potter and the Irons had a decision to make.
Potter wanted to remain in the south for family reasons which helped West Ham’s cause as they beat Everton to his signature.
That resulted in David Moyes returning to football with his old club after his West Ham exit at the end of last season.
The Scot and Potter have both made it clear they want to strengthen their squads in the January transfer window.
Moyes and the new Hammers boss share many of the same principles in that regard, though.
Both only want the right players and characters who are going to improve the team.
But West Ham are proving a thorn in Everton’s side on that front too.

West Ham trump Everton once again
Ajax striker Brian Brobbey was a mutual target for the Hammers and Everton.
West Ham have cooled interest in Brobbey after talks over the weekend.
The Irons have effectively kept Brobbey on hold, though, in case they cannot sign their prime target before Monday’s deadline.
Not only has the powerful Dutchman has accepted that situation, but Brobbey has even snubbed Everton as he waits to join West Ham.
Both clubs are desperate to sign a striker and a midfielder.
That was before respective injuries to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Orel Mangala, Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug.
But the Hammers look set to deal the Toffees another double blow before the window slams shut.
Evan Ferguson has been linked with both Everton and West Ham.
West Ham revealed they’re competing with 20 clubs for Ferguson.
Speculation is intensifying that Ferguson has chosen West Ham and a reunion with Potter.
Brighton have also let it slip Ferguson is on his way out.
Now the east Londoners look set to win another transfer battle with the Toffees.
Because West Ham have trumped Everton once again as a Chelsea star declares he wants the move.

Chelsea star wants Hammers move if he stays in Premier League
The Athletic has reported that Everton have been rivalling West Ham for Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.
West Ham failed with a transfer deadline day move for the Chelsea midfield outcast in the summer.
They have been linked with Chukwuemeka again this month as Potter seeks the dynamic, powerful midfielder West Ham sorely lack.
Everton losing Mangala has intensified their interest in Chukwuemeka.
They are not alone, though. Juventus are also trying to do a deal with Chelsea over a loan.
But Hammers News understands it is West Ham who hold the advantage with three days left of the window.
Potter pull gives Hammers advantage over Everton
Because while Chukwuemeka is open to joining Juve, if he stays in the Premier League then he wants to join the Hammers over Everton.
That’s according to an agent source close to the situation.
Chelsea will have the final say and West Ham may be able to sway the move by inserting an obligation to buy in any loan.
Chukwuemeka would get more guaranteed game time at Everton.
But the lure of staying in London and reuniting with Potter is said to be appealing to the 6ft 2in 21-year-old.
Hammers News has been told the move for Chukwuemeka is not guaranteed but ‘definitely one to watch’ over the next 84 hours.
Ironically West Ham go to Chelsea in the Premier League on transfer deadline day evening.
They could come home with Chukwuemeka.
