West Ham transfer round-up: Samatta and Hinteregger linked, Coventry could leave

With West Ham struggling in the league, it has been a busy week of transfer rumours. It is clear that the squad is not strong enough so a number of players have been linked with a switch to West Ham.

Here are the latest West Ham transfer rumours from this week.

Who might join?

Reports in the Spanish media make West Ham the favourites to sign Lucas Vazquez. The Real Madrid winger is out of favour and could move to England (El Desmarque).

Champions League striker Mbwana Samatta is a West Ham target. The 26-year-old, who recently scored against Liverpool, has a £10m release clause written into his Genk contract (BBC Sport).

Elsewhere, £22m-rated Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Martin Hinteregger is reportedly on West Ham’s radar. West Ham and Arsenal will battle for the 27-year-old Austria international (Football Insider).

Diego Llorente is another centre-half linked with the Hammers. The Spain international currently plays for Real Sociedad but is wanted by Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham. The 26-year-old has a £45m release clause (Mirror).

Moving to left-back, Ryan Manning is a target. The 23-year-old Irishman is impressing for QPR and West Ham are tempted to move for him (London Football News).

Trusted insider EXWHUEmployee provided a transfer update on The West Ham Way podcast on Phoenix FM. He notes that Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Charles Aranguiz are two targets. He also revealed that former Liverpool and Millwall defender Mich’el Parker, 21, is on trial with the Irons.

Who could leave?

U23 skipper Conor Coventry – who is out of contract next summer – is reportedly unhappy with a new contract offer. The 19-year-old Irish midfielder is attracting attention from other clubs (The Guardian).

Finally, Manuel Pellegrini has turned down the opportunity to recall Grady Diangana from his loan spell at West Bromwich Albion. The 21-year-old is thriving with the Baggies but he will not be brought back in January.
