Strengthening the central midfield department at the London Stadium will be one of the Scot’s very top priorities this summer.
Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek have forged a wonderful partnership and understanding in the middle of the park.
David Moyes has little in reserve, however.
West Ham transfer news: Moyes back in for Nahitan Nandez?
The tenacious Uruguay international is a summer target for the Hammers.
That’s according to a report from Corriere dello Sport (Print edition, May 15th, page 19).
It is suggested that the East London outfit could pick the 25-year-old midfielder up for just €25 million (£21 million) this summer.
The Cagliari ace is a gritty and tenacious central midfielder. His playing style is quintessentially South American. And he seems to be ideally suited to the robust and intense nature of the Premier League.
Nandez has enjoyed a superb campaign with Cagliari this term. And he is exactly the kind of player David Moyes should be targeting.
The 25-year-old has racked up two goals and two assists in 31 Serie A games. He has averaged 1.8 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 1.4 dribbles and 1.5 clearances during those outings. Nandez has made 31.2 passes per game on average during those outings and has recorded a completion rate of 77.8% (Who Scored).
The South American is an all round, top class midfield player.
Nandez really would be an exceptional addition for West Ham. Especially for the reported fee of £21 million.
David Moyes just needs to get this one done as soon as possible.
