According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, alleged West Ham targets Samuel Umtiti and Martin Braithwaite have both been transfer listed by Barcelona.

The Hammers made an enquiry for the Barcelona centre-back, 26, in July, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo (Saturday July 25th addition, page 4).

And Mundo Deportivo also claimed that West Ham were in talks to sign the Danish hitman, 29, during the summer.

We obviously didn’t sign either player, however.

Mundo Deportivo now claim that both Umtiti and Braithwaite have now been transfer listed by Barcelona.

The Hammers should steer well clear of the French World Cup winner and the Danish journeyman, however.

El Desmarque claims that Barca want as little as £20 million for Umtiti. Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo suggest that Braithwaite will set back any potential suitors somewhere around £16 million.

Those prices seem like decent value, but in spite of that, West Ham should explore other targets.

Umtiti is incredibly injury prone and is already well past his best. Sure, the Frenchman is only 26, but he has played only 33 games for Barcelona in all competitions since the start of the 2018/19 campaign.

And that says everything you need to know about him.

Braithwaite, meanwhile, really is very average at best. The 29-year-old has scored just one goal in 15 games for Barca (Transfermarkt).

West Ham could and should be doing a lot better than signing the likes of Umtiti and Braithwaite. And we really need to avoid moves for the Frenchman and the Dane in January.
