It has been a busy week for West Ham United as the club finally looks to be making moves in the transfer market.

Only back-up goalkeeper Darren Randolph had arrived going into the final week of the January window.

But David Moyes has confirmed the club are on the verge of making their second signing in the shape of Czech Republic midfielder Tomas Soucek (whufc.com).

Second signing imminent?

The Hammers boss revealed Soucek was in the throes of completing a medical on Tuesday.

If all goes well the Czech player of the year could be unveiled before West Ham’s big game against Liverpool on Wednesday night.

In other West Ham transfer news, Moyes has reportedly launched a double bid for a couple of right-backs.

Moyes stated in his press conference that West Ham had made a ‘proper bid’ for an unnamed player. He said the player in question was not a striker (whufc.com).

Moyes in double right-back bid

Claret & Hugh, which regularly claims to have a top level source inside West Ham – believed to be co-owner David Sullivan – says that player could be Red Bull Salzburg Rasmus Kristensen.

The 22-year-old only joined Salzburg in the summer from Ajax for a fee believed to be £3.5million.

C&H reports that the bid for Rasmus Kristensen has been rejected.

But reliable West Ham insider ExWHUemployee claimed Moyes is not hanging around looking for an alternative – Genk’s Joakim Maehle.

“Yes (we have bid for Kristensen) but I believe the offer has been rejected (for now) we are now in for another danish right back Maehle from Genk too,” ExWHUemployee said on Twitter.

“I think we have already (bid for Maehle). The two danish right backs we are in for have the same agent. Think it is felt by the club Maehle is the better one going forward but the other is better defensively.”

Two on the way out?

While the club is reportedly working on securing new arrivals, there could also be two departures.

Long-serving and long-suffering defender Winston Reid will depart for MLS providing his medical goes well.

Moyes confirmed Reid will leave on loan but would not name the club until the medical has been completed (Claret & Hugh).

Hapless midfield flop Carlos Sanchez could follow close behind. That’s if the Hammers can find someone willing to take the woeful Colombian.

According to Football Insider, Moyes wants to offload Sanchez who has failed to establish himself in more than 18 months at the club.
