West Ham will have to pay £10 million if we want to sign Christian Benteke from Crystal Palace on deadline day.
That’s according to a report from The Sun who claims that the 31-year-old could be tempted into a move to the London Stadium before the January transfer window slams shut.
Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his centre-forward ranks at the London Stadium before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

For a club with aspirations of challenging for honours both domestically and on the continent, having Michail Antonio as our only recognised striker quite simply isn’t good enough.

West Ham are challenging for a place inside the top six once again this season. In order to earn European football for the second consecutive season though, the addition of a centre-forward before tonight’s 11pm deadline will be absolutely vital.
And the Hammers’ have a plan in mind. It might be one that will excite the fans though…
West Ham told fee needed for Benteke on deadline day
According to a report from The Sun, the Hammers will have to pay £10 million if we want to sign the 43-capped Belgium international before the January window closes tonight.
Despite West Ham’s desperate need for a new centre-forward, we really shouldn’t be going anywhere near the Palace striker for that sort of money.
The 43-capped Belgium international has bagged only four goals in 21 Premier League games for Crystal Palace so far this season (Transfermarkt).
Benteke isn’t a bad striker. He is very strong in the air, however, and is well-versed at playing the lone striker role with his back to goal.

The Belgian’s hold-up play is very impressive and let’s be honest here, bringing him to the London Stadium would be a lot better than signing nobody at all. Especially if it is on a short-term loan deal.
That’s the problem though. It allegedly wouldn’t be a short-term loan deal.
West Ham will have to pay £10 million to sign the 31-year-old former Aston Villa and Liverpool hitman.
The Hammers could and should be doing a lot better than Christian Benteke. We are pushing for a top six spot and spending £10 million on the Belgian would be totally irresponsible.
Let’s hope that this one doesn’t happen and we manage to get a deal for a top-class striker over the line before 11pm tonight.
