West Ham United target Matheus Pereira has spoken out about his future and all but confirmed where he wants to go.

West Ham have been heavily linked with a move for West Brom playmaker Pereira this summer as it becomes increasingly clear a move for Jesse Lingard looks unlikely.

Supporters have been excited at the prospect of signing the Brazilian.

Brazilian makes it clear what he wants after West Ham links

But while a number of reports have claimed West Ham were on the verge of completing the signing of the playmaker, he has also been strongly linked with Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal.

Indeed there have been a number of conflicting rumours over who has won the race for the midfielder’s signature between West Ham and Al Hilal over the weekend.

West Ham’s hopes looked to be fading judging by Pereira’s social media activity over the last few days. The midfielder liked posts about signing for Al Hilal at the weekend.

And now the 25-year-old has all but confirmed he wants to move to Al Hilal so that he can be financially secure for life.

‘Three weeks ago I received an offer that would change my life and my family’s life forever’

“I remained silent and was not going to address anything until after the transfer window out of respect for the fans and all my team mates, however after being called not committed with the club I felt extremely disrespected as a professional, I’ve been living off football since I was 12 years old, I chose to give up family time and just ordinary fun to chase after a dream of a better future for myself and those around me,” Pereira said in a lengthy and emotional statement on Twitter.

“Three weeks ago I received an offer that would change my life and my family’s life forever.

Pereira liked posts urging him to join Al Hilal

‘Financial freedom at 25 would be unimaginable’

“I come from humble beginnings, slowly but shortly I’ve been building myself up and achieving things with a lot of hard work and dedication.

“For (me) to achieve financial freedom at 25 would be unimaginable.

“I want to leave I want to seek new experiences but want to do this in a fair and correct manner.”

It is clear that Pereira is referring to the offer from Al Hilal.

While nobody can judge Pereira for prioritising money over ambition, West Ham fans must ask themselves do they really want a player with that mindset?

It is almost certain David Moyes wouldn’t.

In other news, Moyes has had honest conversation with West Ham man over his future.

And Hutchison says West Ham owners ignored advice to sign rapid £30m star now bound for Villa.
