Besiktas could sell West Ham target Gary Medel for just €4.5m (under £4m), according to reports emerging from Italy. Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato report that Lazio have joined the race for Besiktas midfielder Medel, who is available on the cheap this summer.
West Ham’s Gary Medel hunt

West Ham were linked with Medel in the January transfer window (Sky Sports News) as Manuel Pellegrini aimed to bolster his injury-hit squad.
The Chile international’s ability to play at right-back, centre-back or in defensive midfield appealed to his fellow countryman Pellegrini. But that move never materialised and Medel stayed at Besiktas, although he has since struggled with his form in Turkey.
Turkish media outlet Takvim have since reported that the 31-year-old now wants to leave Besiktas and is open to joining West Ham. Medel, who once represented Cardiff City in the Premier League, has one year left to run on his contract after this season.
Lazio enter the race
West Ham face competition from Serie A side Lazio for Medel, according to Calcio Mercato. This report suggests that the Rome-based outfit are keen on bringing the ex-Inter Milan player back to Italy.
Medel is a cheap target for Lazio, who are interested in his experience in both Italy and the international arena. It remains to be seen whether Pellegrini will firm up any West Ham interest with a concrete bid this coming summer.
