Hammers boss David Moyes was keen to bring the 26-year-old midfielder to the London Stadium this summer (Sport1).
West Ham need to bolster their central midfield ranks. Money is tight in East London, however.
So the opportunity to sign the 20-capped Israel international on a free transfer would have undoubtedly appealed to Moyes.

It seems as though the Hammers are set to miss out on the Maccabi Tel Aviv ace, however.
West Ham target Dor Peretz moving elsewhere?
Well-renowned journalist Gianluca Di Marzio posted the below picture to his official Twitter account yesterday:
Missing out on the 26-year-old will be a real shame.
The Israel international is a defensive midfielder by trade and he possesses impressive technical ability.
He is also a tenacious tackler and a very hard worker.

Dor Peretz recorded some impressive numbers for Maccabi Tel Aviv last season, with 10 goals and nine assists in 50 games (Transfermarkt).
With funds expected to be tight this summer, picking Peretz up on a free would be a very smart move from David Moyes.
