Roma boss Jose Mourinho is set to beat West Ham in the race to sign Andrea Belotti on a free transfer this summer.
That’s according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport who claim that the 28-year-old striker WILL sign for Roma after agreeing personal terms with Mourinho’s side.

It seems as though the Italian will be staying in his home country though.
That’s not the end of the world – West Ham have signed Gianluca Scamacca after all. The addition of Belotti in addition to Scamacca would have taken Moyes’s attacking options to another level entirely though.

And Moyes may well now have to look elsewhere if he wants to bring in another striker on a bargain deal…
West Ham to miss out to Roma on Andrea Belotti
Gazzetta dello Sport reckon that the 28-year-old striker is all set to join Jose Mourinho at Roma on a free transfer, after his contract expired with Torino.
We think that Belotti would be have been a useful addition for the Hammers, especially on a free transfer.
The Torino striker has a proven track record of scoring goals at the very highest level for a sustained period of time.
The 41-capped Italy international has bagged 170 goals in 433 career games for club and country (Transfermarkt).
Belotti is an incredibly hard-working forward. The experienced forward possesses superb movement and is always a real handful for opposing defenders. He certainly knows where the back of the net is as well.

The opportunity to sign him for nothing would undoubtedly have appealed to Moyes. The Scot then would have had Antonio, Scamacca and Belotti as centre-forward options for the upcoming season.
If the Hammers are to challenge on all fronts next season, we really need three strikers to be battling it out for the starting place through the middle.
Belotti earned around £64k-a-week at Torino (Salary Sport) so even if he asked for £80/100k-a-week, he wouldn’t have broke the wage structure at the London Stadium.
Unfortunately for West Ham, it seems as though Andrea Belotti will not be heading to East London this summer but Rome instead.
And that will undoubtedly be Roma’s gain and the Hammers’ loss.
