West Ham United’s striker targets seem to be dropping like flies and another might be added to the list.

Marko Arnautovic speaks and puts West Ham return to bed once and for all

West Ham have been linked with all and sundry since selling Sebastien Haller to Ajax for £20million last week.

David Moyes wanted a striker in the summer before selling Haller.

Moyes desperate for new striker

An acute need has turned to desperation now as West Ham are left with relying on the injury-prone Michail Antonio as their only senior forward.

The Hammers have been linked with a host of strikers. But many of them have already secured moves elsewhere.

Marko Arnautovic has returned to China, Moussa Dembele has joined Atletico Madrid and Luka Jovic has re-joined Frankfurt.

Now another of Moyes’s reported targets, Arkadiusz Milik, could be set to snub West Ham. And to make matters worse, the Napoli outcast could link up with former Hammer Dimitri Payet at Marseille.

Yesterday The Sun reported that West Ham had made a £6.3m offer for Milik – who is out of contract in the summer.

Target Milik to link up with former Hammer Payet after Marseille trump bid – report

The Sun claims Napoli told West Ham they must up their bid for the 26-year-old.

But now it appears Milik could be set to join Payet in France.

According to Football Italia and La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Milik is ‘closer than ever’ to joining Marseille.

That’s after L’OM trumped West Ham with an offer of £8.9m and a further £4.45m in add-ons.

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the situation is developing, with Milik and Napoli now tempted to accept the terms put to them by Marseille.

‘Milik has been warned’

“It would be a transfer fee worth €10m with bonuses worth up to another €5m tied to performances, results and goals,” Football Italia and La Gazzetta Dello Sport report.

“Milik has been warned that if he doesn’t find a new club in January, he won’t be considered for the Poland squad at the Euros next summer.”

Milik is a fine player with a goal record of better than one in every three games.

But he is also injury-prone and will be extremely rusty and lacking fitness having not played a single minute this season after being frozen out by Napoli.

Elsewhere Sky Sports and West Ham insider ExWHUemployee are claiming the club are continuing talks with Reims over a move for striker Boulaye Dia.
