West Ham United’s chances of landing striker target Arkadiusz Milik have been dramatically boosted after Napoli confirmed his imminent departure.

West Ham insider ExWHUemployee allays permanent signing fears

According to a report from Corriere dello Sport (Print edition, December 28th, page 3), West Ham want Poland striker Milik and have an advantage over rival clubs.

Corriere dello Sport claim West Ham can offer Milik more game time, something other interested clubs such as Tottenham and Atletico Madrid would struggle to do.

Moyes desperate for a new striker in January

West Ham boss David Moyes desperately needs a new striker.

Michail Antonio has suffered persistent hamstring problems while Sebastien Haller continues to struggle and does not appear to have a future under David Moyes.

Milik is a pacy, hard-working forward who can play anywhere in a front three. That would make him ideal for Moyes’s system at West Ham.

He has pedigree too with an excellent record of 81 goals in his last 157 club games for Napoli and Ajax.

Milik’s contract at Napoli is up in the summer. So West Ham will be hoping they can land him for a bargain fee in January.

Messy Milik situation threatens to end up in court

Now the Hammers have been boosted after Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli confirmed Milik will leave the club this month (Sky Sport Italia).

And it all comes against the background of the striker and his club looking set to end up in court over an alleged mutiny from the player and unpaid wages from Napoli (Il Corriere dello Sport).

“The relationship is tense between Milik and (Napoli owner) patron Aurelio De Laurentiis and Il Corriere dello Sport highlights the mutiny in November and the violation of image rights as the main issues.

“Napoli are suing the Poland international, but Milik has reportedly responded by (counter suing) the club for a missing salary.

“The newspaper claims Milik would be the only player who has not yet received the salary for October and he’s considering taking legal action against the Azzurri.”

Director confirms West Ham striker target will leave this month for a club who can give him game time

Meanwhile Napoli director Giuntoli confirmed a number of clubs are interested in West Ham target Milik and he will leave imminently.

“We have a striker that many clubs would like to have. So we will wait and see what happens,” Giuntoli told Sky Sport Italia.

“Milik wants to go and play so he can be ready for the Euros. That is what he wants. I don’t think we will sign anyone, as the squad is complete, so we’ll only sell a couple. Milik and Llorente? It could be.”

Whether West Ham can beat off competition from other clubs remains to be seen.

But if it is game time Milik wants ahead of the Euros, then West Ham are surely his best bet.
