West Ham are pressing on with a deal to sign Darwin Nunez from Benfica according to claims from club insiders Claret and Hugh.
The Hammers desperately need to sign a striker before the January window slams shut tonight at 11pm.
West Ham manager David Moyes absolutely has to bring in some top quality competition and cover for Michail Antonio.

Having one senior striker is beyond a joke, especially considering the fact that we are fighting for honours both domestically and on the continent.
It seems as though Moyes is trying his best to make something happen before tonight’s 11pm deadline, however.

News broke yesterday that West Ham were eyeing up a shock move to bring Benfica striker Darwin Nunez to the London Stadium (90 min and Sky Sports).
It was believed that Benfica had accepted a bid worth around £50 million for Nunez (Sky Sports).
David Ornstein poured cold water on talk of the 22-year-old moving to the London Stadium on deadline day this morning though, suggesting that the striker has rejected a move to West Ham.
However, there appears to be hope yet…
West Ham deal for Darwin Nunez still on
Club insiders Claret and Hugh reckon that the Hammers are pressing on with their efforts to try and prise the Uruguayan hitman away from Benfica on deadline day.
One big issue is the fact that he is currently in South America with the national team. Having said that, modern day technology should enable clubs to get deals over the line remotely.
And what a spectacular addition Nunez would be to Moyes’s ranks at the London Stadium.

The Uruguay international has been in fine form in Portugal this season with 20 goals in 25 games for Benfica to his name (Transfermarkt).
Nunez’s playing style is quintessentially South American. He is a tenacious presser, plays with real physicality and has real technical ability.
The 22-year-old seems to be ideally suited for the Premier League what with its intense and robust nature.
Bringing him to the London Stadium and deadline day would be a real statement of intent from West Ham.
As time continues to tick down though, the Hammers signing the Uruguayan for such a huge fee seems to be highly unlikely.
