West Ham United have been one of the most active clubs in the transfer market this summer but could there be even more to come.
West Ham have backed new manager Manuel Pellegrini to the tune of over £90 million so far with seven new signings.
Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop, Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko, Fabian Balbuena and record £40 million signing Felipe Anderson have all signed up for what looks set to be an exciting season in East London.
Some fans feel the Hammers are still a quality holding midfielder short of really kicking up a level.
But if the window closed tomorrow the majority of West Ham fans would be pleased with the club’s business.
However, if the club’s statement on season ticket sales is anything to go by there could be more additions yet.
Announcing that West Ham have sold out 52,000 season tickets – second highest to Manchester United – for the third successive season the club’s official website dropped a little hint to eagle-eyed supporters.
“A record number of Season Ticket renewals for Manuel Pellegrini’s first campaign at the helm was announced last month, with 92% of supporters signing up to back the new-look Hammers in 2018/19,” the statement said on whufc.com.
“Which will include at least seven new faces – club record signing Felipe Anderson, Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko, Issa Diop, Ryan Fredericks, Lukasz Fabianski and Fabian Balbuena.”
The key words there for excitable fans are ‘at least’ which gives the distinct impression more could follow.
West Ham have been linked with Mexican defender Diego Reyes, midfielder Thiago Mendes Angel Romero Martin Benitez and Stefano Sturaro (various including ESPN).
