West Ham star Fabian Balbuena has made mind up on future claims transfer expert and it could force David Moyes to act in transfer market

West Ham United star Fabian Balbuena has made his mind up on his future.

Bit-part Benrahma has to start for West Ham against Leeds

According to West Ham transfer expert Pedro Almeida, Balbuena has decided to leave the club when his contract expires this summer.

The Paraguayan centre back joined West Ham for around £6.5million during the great summer splurge of 2018 under Manuel Pellegrini.

The 29-year-old’s spell in east London has been mixed.

Another up and down season for ‘The General’

He became a mainstay in his first season, but lost his place under Pellegrini and Moyes in his second campaign.

Balbuena fought his way back into the side as part of West Ham’s back three earlier this season.

But injury saw him replaced by Craig Dawson who has been imperious ever since.

Balbuena was meant to replace Angelo Ogbonna when he went down injured against Manchester United last month.

But he too was feeling a niggle before the game and Moyes elected to play Issa Diop instead.

Balbuena realistic over lack of game time

Balbuena has been realistic about his lack of action given West Ham are enjoying their best season for 35 years.

“The players who took my place are doing quite well,” he told Versus Radio recently.

“When things are like this, you have to work hard and wait for an opportunity to present itself again.”

With no timescale on Ogbonna’s return to action for West Ham, the former Corinthians star could still have a big role to play during the run-in.

He was linked with the likes of Lazio in the January window but remained at the London Stadium.

‘The player prefers a return to Brazil’

Balbuena also told Versus Radio (as per La Lazio Siamo Noi) last month that he would discuss his future with the Hammers soon and make a decision.

Now according to Portuguese transfer expert Pedro Almeida, the defender has made up his mind on a return to Brazil.

Almeida claims there are four teams interested in the West Ham centre back this summer in the form of Internacional, Flamengo, a team from Saudi Arabia and a team from MLS.

“The player prefers a return to Brazil,” Almeida said on Twitter.

It would not be a disaster for West Ham to lose Balbuena.

But it could force Moyes to act in the transfer market.

And that would eat into what precious funds he has available for other priority positions up front and in defensive midfield.
