West Ham signed Sebastien Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer.
Despite making a fine start to life in England, the 25-year-old has been poor over the past six weeks or so.
Haller has scored just one goal in his last nine games.
But it’s not all the Frenchman’s fault.
He has looked totally isolated up front on his own. And Manuel Pellegrini could solve that issue by playing someone up alongside him.
The problem is that the Chilean clearly doesn’t trust Albian Ajeti. So the addition of another top class striker in January could be a game-changer for West Ham.
And Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato claims that Atalanta hitman Duvan Zapata could be on the Hammers’ radar.
The Colombian has been in excellent form over the past 18 months, racking up 35 goals in his last 57 appearances.
And he could form an absolutely devastating partnership with Haller. The 28-year-old would certainly help bring out the best in the Frenchman.
Zapata won’t come cheap, however.
Italian publication Calcio Mercato claims that Atalanta will demand at least €50 million (£43 million) for the striker.
In today’s day and age, however, that would represent decent value for money for West Ham.
Zapata possesses all of the key skills needed to succeed in England. He is strong, quick along the ground and is an excellent finisher.
West Ham need to make it happen and bring the Colombian to the London Stadium.
His arrival would make a massive difference to not only the Hammers, but Seb Haller too.
