West Ham United are reportedly showing ‘great interest’ in Cameroon striker Jean-Pierre Nsame.

David Moyes is desperate for more firepower to help West Ham in their battle against relegation.

The Hammers are struggling for goals with £45million man Sebastien Haller netting just six times since arriving in East London.

Michail Antonio has been operating as a makeshift forward when available. But that is becoming something of a rarity as he continues to be plagued by injuries.

Moyes desperate for more firepower

Moyes has admitted he is still on the hunt for signings before Friday’s transfer window deadline (Sky Sports).

The Scot has signed back-up goalkeeper Darren Randolph and midfielder Tomas Soucek so far.

A striker will be high on his wish-list.

And a new report from Foot 365 in France claims West Ham are closely monitoring Young Boys forward Nsame with ‘great interest’.

Nsame, 26, has scored 84 goals in the last four seasons.

West Ham want more of the Nsame

The 6ft 2in striker boasts pace and power and seems ideally suited to the Premier League.

He already has 21 goals in 27 appearances for Young Boys this season so would come to West Ham with great confidence if the Hammers do manage to lure him to East London before the deadline.

“Premier League side West Ham United are continually supervising 26-year-old Cameroonian international attacker Jean-Pierre Nsame with great interest,” Foot 365 reported overnight.

“Nsame, who plays for Young Boys, was named as the Player of the Year in 2019 in Switzerland has scored 16 goals in 18 (league) matches so far this season.

“The ex-Angers man extended his contract with Young Boys last summer until June 2023.”

84 goals in four seasons but could Young Boy cut it in the Prem?

While he may have all the attributes on paper and a decent goalscoring record, it remains to be seen whether Nsame could cut it in the Premier League.

The Swiss league is not the strongest competition. He has however netted a couple of goals in Europe this season too.

West Ham are also reportedly keen to add a new right-back before Friday’s deadline.

According to various reports Rasmus Kristensen (Daily Mail), Joakim Mahle (ExWHUemployee) and Matty Cash (Sky Sports) have all been targeted.

And reliable Hammers insider ExWHUemployee has claimed the club are also interested in right-back Kelvin Amian Adou in his latest West Ham Way podcast.
