Lukasz Fabianski has been one of West Ham’s best and most consistent performers over the past year or so.
The 34-year-old is undoubtedly one of the first names on Manuel Pellegrini’s team-sheet.
The Hammers will have to do without the Polish stopper for 2-3 months, however, after he suffered an injury against Bournemouth on Saturday.
West Ham do have Roberto, 33, and David Martin, 33, in reserve, but in truth, neither of those two will fill the Hammers fans with much confidence.
The Spaniard has looked very shaky in his three appearances for the east London outfit this season, whilst the former Millwall man is still yet to play a senior game for the club.
So should Pellegrini look at signing a free agent?
Michel Vorm is available on a free transfer, and he could be a great short-term option for West Ham.
The former Tottenham stopper, 35, has plenty of experience in playing in the Premier League.
He spent three years with Swansea City, and another five with Spurs, making 144 appearances during that eight year timespan.
The Dutchman is a very capable goalkeeper. He is an excellent shot-stopper, commands his area with authority, and is decent with his feet.
Vorm would undoubtedly be an upgrade on both Roberto and Martin.
At 35, the Dutchman is arguably already on the decline, but he is still an accomplished goalkeeper.
The former Spurs man probably doesn’t have too many years left playing at the top level, but signing him on a short-term deal to cover for Fabianski seems like a no-brainer for West Ham.
And if Pellegrini does bring Vorm to the London Stadium, he could end up being a really smart signing for the Hammers
