According to a report from FC Inter News, West Ham have made a move to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic.
The Croatian has been a fine player over the past five or six years, but it could be argued that he is already past his best.
And it could be a big mistake for the Hammers to sign the Inter star.
At 30, the 82-capped Croatia international could be on the downward curve of his career now, and his stats over the past couple of years certainly back up that notion.
During the 2017/18 campaign, he racked up 11 goals and 11 assists in 37 Serie A outings.
Last season his numbers dropped, however, with just eight goals and four assists to his name in 34 outings.
And West Ham need to be wary of that decline.
Perisic won’t come cheap either.
West Ham would have to fork out around €40 million (£35 million) for his signature, according to Italian media outlet Sempre Inter.
The Hammers have fallen into the trap of signing expensive foreign imports who are past their best before, and they must learn from those mistakes.
Manuel Pellegrini seems to be building a wonderfully exciting squad at the London Stadium.
Pablo Fornals has already joined West Ham, whilst Maxi Gomez appears to be inching ever closer to moving to east London.
And in truth, they really don’t need Perisic.
He might be a good addition for one or two seasons, but in the long-term, signing the Croatian would make no sense.
