West Ham appear to have stepped up their interest in Roma striker Edin Dzeko, according to recent reports in the Italian media.
The Hammers are reportedly ‘getting serious’ about Dzeko, although the striker is waiting for Inter Milan to make a move, according to Il Messaggero via Sport Witness.
Covering Il Messaggero’s story, Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claims that West Ham made an undisclosed offer for Dzeko over the weekend.
West Ham’s bid was not revealed but the report adds that Roma want €30m for Dzeko, which equates to over £25m.
Who is Edin Dzeko?

Dzeko is a well-known striker across the top European leagues, having had impressive spells in Germany, England and Italy.
After netting 85 goals in 142 games for Wolfsburg, the 6ft 4in forward went on to score 72 in 189 while at Manchester City.
Since leaving Man City, the 33-year-old has scored 85 goals in four seasons with Serie A side Roma. This includes 12 goals this season.
And the Bosnia-Herzegovina international has scored 55 goals in 100 caps for his country, where he is the leading scorer and appearance holder.
Is Edin Dzeko the right fit?
Given his experience and physical presence up top, the veteran striker could fit in well as an Andy Carroll replacement at West Ham.
And a reunion with Manuel Pellegrini could appeal to both parties. The pair worked together at Man City, where they won the Premier League.
But given his age and his £25m-plus price tag, Dzeko is simply not worth that money as he enters the final years of his career.
