West Ham sent scouts to watch FC Porto in action this weekend, according to reports in Portugal.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola (via Sport Witness) reports that West Ham scouts were present at the Primeira Liga clash between Portimonense and Porto.
And three potential targets got on the scoresheet for Porto in a 3-0 victory for the Portuguese heavyweights.
Three FC Porto goalscorers
Yacine Brahimi, Moussa Marega and Hector Herrera were Porto’s three goalscorers and all of these players have been linked with the Hammers in the past.
Brahimi opened the scoring just 14 minutes into the game and Moussa Marega doubled the lead in the 73rd minute; both were linked with West Ham last summer (Sky Sports News).
Herrera netted his side’s third goal in injury time. West Ham were linked with the Mexico international last summer, as per CM Journal.
Brahimi and Herrera are both due to become free agents in the summer transfer window and could be bargain additions.
Herrera is an energetic box-to-box midfielder who is likely to be in-demand this summer. Brahimi plays on the wing and is another player who will not be short of suitors when he becomes a free agent.
Marega would cost West Ham some money but he has been a long-term striker target for the Hammers. The Mali international is a powerful forward who could be the missing link up front.
West Ham could send scouts to watch Porto in action against Liverpool in midweek as they clearly have at least one player in mind.
