West Ham scouts have had their eye on Boubacar Kamara in the recent past.

But now Real Madrid have entered the race for him. According to Spanish media outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has drawn up a three-man shortlist for a new defender signing.

Zidane wants to find the new Raphael Varane so he has found three young French targets. Monaco starlet Benoit Badiashille and Arsenal youngster William Saliba, on loan at Saint-Etienne, are two of them. Kamara is the other.

The Marseille defender has impressed enough to earn his place on Real Madrid’s wishlist. The Spanish giants have a lot of pulling power so they will hope to woo Kamara (or another defender) to the Bernabeu soon.

According to reliable insider EXWHUEmployee back in June, West Ham had spent the past few months scouting Kamara. The 19-year-old has caught the eye with 61 first-team games already under his belt despite his young age.

Kamara could offer West Ham the perfect blend of youth and experience, while still having his best years ahead of him. He is also a left-footed centre-back, who can operate at left-back, proving his multi-purpose qualities.

The teenager is a ball-playing centre-back who could slot in nicely alongside fellow countryman Issa Diop. The pair have played together for France at U21 level and could form a blossoming partnership. But if Real Madrid are interested, West Ham’s hopes are surely dwindling.
