His form may have dipped of late by Felipe Anderson has been one of the highlights of West Ham United’s season.
It says everything that Anderson has earned his first Brazil call-up since 2015.
Nine goals and as many assists make Anderson the club’s all-round best performer in an attacking sense.
His form over the course of his debut season has attracted admiring glances.
Fans have been quick to suggest bigger clubs than West Ham will come calling in the summer (The Sun).
Anderson key to new West Ham
West Ham must hold on to their best players if they want to continue to progress under Manuel Pellegrini.
And they will be keen to ensure Anderson remains in East London.
So could the Hammers risk upsetting their star man by selling his ‘best friend’ Pedro Obiang this summer.
Anderson spoke to Soccer AM last week and revealed Obiang is his closest ally.
“Pedro Obiang is one of my best friends here,” Anderson told Soccer AM.
Pedro and Felipe BFFs
“I always talk to him, I have got really close to him since I got here. He speaks my language, we always speak in Italian and I think he would be someone I can count on.”
But for how long.
Obiang was heavily linked with a move away from West Ham last summer and again in January.
The only reason the former Sampdoria midfielder was not sold was because West Ham could not get a replacement lined up (Sky Sports).
West Ham must be careful not to unsettle star man
With the Hammers looking to reinforce again this summer Obiang looks certain to leave.
That could impact Anderson as Obiang has clearly helped the Brazilian settle into English life.
Would it be worth trying to keep Obiang if it makes for a happy camp?
Or does Pellegrini need to be ruthless. Time will tell.
