West Ham reportedly could miss out on Takehiro Tomiyasu

West Ham target Takehiro Tomiyasu could end up staying at Bologna this summer according to sporting director Walter Sabatini.

Hammers boss David Moyes could try to bring the 22-year-old centre-back to the London Stadium this summer according to Fanta Calcio.

West Ham have Angelo Ogbonna, Craig Dawson and Issa Diop as current centre-back options.

So the addition of a central defender will be crucial for the East Londoners with a busy campaign lying ahead.

Tomiyasu, a 23-capped Japan international, would be a very wise addition for the Hammers. We could be set to miss out on the Bologna ace, however.

West Ham target Tomiyasu to stay at Bologna?

Bologna sporting director Walter Sabatini told Fanta Calcio that the 22-year-old will probably stay with the Serie A club this summer:

“I think Tomiyasu will stay at Bologna. We have never been willing to sell him.”

Missing out on the Japanese ace would be a real shame for the Hammers.

In 29 Serie A outings last season, the defender averaged 1.4 tackles, 1.7 interceptions and 2.3 clearances per game. He also won an average of two aerial duals per match (Who Scored).

The 22-year-old is also very versatile, and can operate at centre-back or even in the deep-lying midfield position.

Tomiyasu is valued at around £15 million according to according to respected journalist David Ornstein. That would represent a truly brilliant bargain for whichever club ends up signing him.

It seems as though he won’t be rocking up at West Ham anytime soon, however.
