According to a report from the Guardian, West Ham have agreed a £4 million fee with Middlesbrough to sign Darren Randolph.

Reliable Hammers insider ExWHUemployee confirmed the news via his Twitter account, claiming that talks are set to take place today between the clubs and the player:

Randolph, a 42-capped Republic of Ireland international, left West Ham to join Boro in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth £5 million (BBC).

And the 32-year-old has really impressed on Teesside, during which time the Hammers have been left exposed in the goalkeeping department.

So it is no surprise that David Moyes is trying to bring Randolph back to the London Stadium.

The 6ft 2in ace would be a real upgrade on current backup goalkeepers Roberto and David Martin, and for just £4 million, it should be considered as good business for West Ham.

In truth, however, he was far from convincing during his time in east London, and he is now two-and-a-half years older than he was when he left.

Also, it could be argued that the Hammers should be prioritising other signings like a right-back, a central midfielder and a striker.

Some West Ham fans took to Twitter in reaction to the news that Randolph could be heading back to the London Stadium…
