Axel Disasi would be welcomed with open arms if he opts to stay at West Ham United beyond the current campaign but, as reports explain, things may not be quite that simple for the Chelsea loanee.
The first thing to mention, of course, is that West Ham United will not be signing the France international permanently if they cannot stave off the still very real threat of relegation.
The Hammers have clawed back 12 points on Tottenham and eight on Nottingham Forest since beating Spurs on January 17th, but they remain in the drop zone heading into Saturday’s clash with Manchester City.
DISCUSS: How much would you pay for Axel Disasi? 💷
Disasi has THREE years left on his Chelsea contract…
So while club insider ExWHUemployee claims that Disasi is keen to stay at West Ham, there is still a lot to be decided before then.
West Ham United will not pay £38m for Chelsea misfit Axel Disasi
The Daily Mail, in a new update provided on Wednesday morning, add that Chelsea’s asking price, plus potential competition from around Europe, remains a potential cause for pessimism; Axel Disasi’s future very much up in the air.
The Mail claim that West Ham will ‘not want to go near’ the £38 million fee Chelsea paid Monaco in the summer of 2023. They are hoping for a considerable discount. The good news is that Chelsea have made it clear already that Disasi has no future at Stamford Bridge, having spent the first half of the campaign stuck with the reserves.

The report also adds that interest from other richer, more stable clubs in England and abroad could be an ‘added complication’.
Disasi has made a huge impact at West Ham since arriving, their points per game average rising from 0.8 to 1.6. Their goals-per-game average has also fallen from two to 1.2. Whether alongside Konstantinos Mavropanos or Jean-Clair Todibo, the five-time France international has barely put a foot wrong, that own goal against Liverpool aside.
They say never fall in love with a loan player, but we’ve all done it before 😂
Disasi was not happy about being frozen out at Chelsea
Speaking to Sky Sports after Mavropanos fired West Ham past Brentford to secure an FA Cup quarter-final clash with Leeds, Disasi opened up on his miserable final few months in West London. Factor in that loan spell at Aston Villa in the second half of last season, and Disasi’s most recent Premier League outing for his parent club came in January 2025.
“If I say everything, maybe I will get into trouble,” he said. “But it was tough [being out of favour at Chelsea]. It was very tough to be watching every single week, every single weekend the games on the TV.
“I was just working, waiting for my time and that’s why now I’m just enjoying because I know what it feels like to be in front of the TV and not on the pitch.”
