West Ham plotting transfer move to sign Middlesbrough defender

West Ham United are keen to complete a transfer for Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence according to a report from The Telegraph.

Hammers boss David Moyes is expected to be a very busy man this summer.

The Scot needs to considerably strengthen his ranks at the London Stadium with a Premier League and Europa League campaign lying in wait.

The West Ham manager should be prioritising the signings of a new striker, or two, a centre-back and a central midfielder.

The addition of a number 10 like Jesse Lingard or Matheus Pereira should be at the very top of his priority list as well.

It seems as though the Hammers could be a eyeing a new right-back as well, however.

West Ham in for Djed Spence transfer

The Telegraph reckon that the 20-year-old London-born right-back is on the Hammers’ radar this summer.

Norwich City and Everton allegedly want him as well.

In 38 Championship appearances for Boro last season, Spence averaged 0.8 tackles, 0.7 interceptions and 0.6 clearances per game (Who Scored).

He is an energetic, pacy full-back and could be available for around £5 million this summer according to ESPN.

That’s not bad value for a talented up and coming player…but has he really done enough to warrant that kind of outlay? We think not.

David Moyes would be better off focusing on strengthening other areas of his squad at the London Stadium before he makes any more youth team additions this summer.
