Julen Lopetegui’s summer transfer plan is beginning to take shape at West Ham United it seems.
West Ham have been linked with numerous players already this summer, with Julen Lopetegui on a mission to improve his squad at the London Stadium.
The Hammers boss has £90 million to play with this summer, excluding player sales, so he should be able to significantly strengthen his ranks.
One area in particular where he definitely needs to strengthen is his central midfield department, with more competition and cover required for Edson Alvarez.
West Ham were far too easy to play against last season, especially when Alvarez was forced to play the holding role on his own.
We were wide open and extremely easy to pass through, and that’s something that Lopetegui has to change this season.
It seems like the Spaniard has a specific plan in place to combat that exact issue…

Julen Lopetegui’s summer plan takes shape
So the Hammers could well be closing in on a deal to sign Aleix Garcia from Girona.
Mundo Deportivo claim that the East London outfit have offered him a £3.4 million per year salary, or £65k-a-week.
It all depends whether the Spaniard decides to join West Ham or Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that the midfielder picks the Hammers, because he’d take us to a whole new level.
Blaugranagram describe him as a remarkable player, and they’re spot on.
The Spaniard is an exceptional deep-lying midfielder. He has a wonderful range of passing and is incredibly press-resistant, what with his composure in possession.
The Girona star would be a truly outstanding signing for the Hammers, so I’d really like to see the club really push the boat out for his signature this summer.
The thought of Garcia lining up alongside Edson Alvarez in a double-pivot is an extremely exciting one.
Julen Lopetegui’s summer plan is now clear. He’s desperately trying to sign a flexible attacker, a centre-back and a central midfielder.
The Spaniard obviously wants to strengthen the spine of his team, and I don’t blame him. Hopefully we see some of the transfer links turn into confirmed deals this week.
