It does not take the most enlightened of footballing minds to suggest that West Ham United desperately need to sign a defender during the January transfer window.
While the signings of Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe earlier this month spoke of a proactive approach to strengthen West Ham’s attacking line, attention must turn to securing defensive reinforcements.
No one in the Premier League has conceded more goals than Nuno Espirito Santo’s side (43).
West Ham will be wasting their money by signing Disasi in January…😖
What do you think about this move?
Sheffield United have the all-time worst defensive record in a Premier League season (conceding 104 in 38 games back in 2023/24) and they had conceded a relatively comparable 51 at this stage of the season.
Plenty of names have been linked. Charlie Cresswell’s move to West Ham appears to have hit a stumbling block, while Ethan Pinnock has reportedly emerged as a Hammers transfer target too.
Now, it seems the Irons have been offered a Chelsea outcast, although they are not alone in that.
Chelsea’s Axel Disasi offered to West Ham United
Disasi hasn’t played for Chelsea this season, having been cast into the now infamous ‘bomb squad’ in west London.
The Frenchman has only played U21s football this season but remains on the club’s books.
According to noted transfer reporter Dean Jones, West Ham are one of several clubs who have been offered the 27-year-old’s services.
He told TEAMtalk’s Facebook page: “Disasi has been linked with West Ham, to be fair, Disasi is being offered everywhere at the moment, and they are just one of the clubs.”
Out of 10, how CONFIDENT are you that Nuno can still save West Ham?

Axel Disasi’s last senior appearance came eight months ago
Hammers News understands that Disasi was offered to West Ham sporting director Mark Noble during his days as a Monaco player.
Earlier this week, we also brought you the news that Noble is still West Ham’s sporting director despite recent speculation among supporters.

France international Disasi certainly seems like an achievable target, given Chelsea appear to want to sell up.
The fact he hasn’t played a competitive game at senior level since April 2025, however, is difficult to ignore.
His last appearance came while on loan at Aston Villa in their 2-1 defeat to Manchester City.
Turning to him to solve a defensive crisis would be an almighty risk.
