West Ham have emerged as one of the favourites to sign AC Milan midfielder Youssouf Fofana this summer.

The Hammers are long-term admirers of the France international and could finally bring him to East London soon.

Fofana has been a regular starter in Max Allegri’s Milan side, but they are prepared to sell him for a reasonable fee.

Here are the key details from the latest transfer report about West Ham’s pursuit of the 27-year-old.

West Ham lead Premier League race for AC Milan’s Youssouf Fofana

West Ham were previously interested in Youssouf Fofana when he was at Monaco before joining Milan in 2024.

Fofana has since become an important player at the San Siro, making 84 appearances in just two seasons.

However, Milan are still prepared to sell him this summer to raise funds as long as they can find a suitable replacement.

They have been heavily linked with signing Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka on a free transfer when his contract expires.

According to Tuttosport, Fofana will be available for £26 million (€30m) this summer, with a move to the Premier League on the cards.

The report names West Ham as the most likely English club to sign Fofana, as they have been “tracking” him for several years.

The midfielder will also have interest from Ligue 1 clubs, including Lyon and Marseilles, as well as two Turkish giants.

Both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce were determined to sign Fofana in the January transfer window, but he had no interest.

His box-to-box style would certainly suit the Premier League, making him an ideal replacement for Tomas Soucek.

Indeed, Fofana and Mateus Fernandes (if he stays at West Ham) would form one of the best midfield pivots in the country.
