West Ham midfielder Edimilson Fernandes faces an uncertain summer. According to Italian newspaper La Nazione (via Sport Witness), Fernandes’ future hangs in the balance as he prepares for talks over a summer move to Fiorentina.
Fernandes has spent the season on loan at Fiorentina and the Italian club have an option to buy him. This would involve Fiorentina triggering his €8m (just less than £7m) clause before June 30th to make his deal permanent.
But his form in Italy has been mixed and he is set for a meeting next week to discover whether Fiorentina have plans to use him next season.
Edimilson Fernandes struggles in Italy
Fernandes has not set the world alight since his summer loan move to Fiorentina. The central midfielder has played 26 Serie A games, scoring twice and failing to provide an assist.
The Switzerland international is currently out injured so he is yet to feature under new manager Vincenzo Montella.
Stefano Pioli was the Viola’s manager but he has recently been replaced so Fernandes is unsure where he stands with his new boss.

Edimilson Fernandes set for talks with Fiorentina
Fiorentina’s board have reportedly asked Montella to let them know whether he plans to use Fernandes in his squad next season.
With about one month left to impress Montella, the 23-year-old faces a battle against time to convince him to spend around £7m to sign his man.
Fernandes is due to hold a meeting with Pantaleo Corvino – Fiorentina’s Director of Football – next week with the player’s representatives coy on his future until after these discussions.
West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini does not seem to rate the Swiss midfielder and his future is unclear if Fiorentina do not exercise their option to buy.
