West Ham United may regret not paying the asking price for David Moyes’s prime striker target Youssef En-Nesyri.

The Hammers were heavily linked with a move for the Moroccan striker last month (The Athletic).

But West Ham’s offers fell way below Sevilla’s £40million asking price (The Daily Star).

Angry West Ham fans felt owners should have fronted extra cash to get Moyes target signed

West Ham fans felt owners David Sullivan and David Gold should have fronted the extra cash to help the team kick on after their best start to a season for 35 years.

And the club’s failure to land a striker may already be coming home to roost.

Moyes’s only senior forward Michail Antonio has gone off the boil in front of goal.

And against Fulham Antonio looked tired as he toiled before being substituted in the second half.

While tired Antonio toils, En-Nesyri continues to light up La Liga

His manager insisted it was fatigue and not another injury. But West Ham fans were told the same thing after the striker was subbed against Manchester City earlier this season and he wasn’t seen again for over a month.

While Antonio struggles as West Ham’s only realistic striker option, En-Nesyri continues to add digits to his price tag in Spain.

The Hammers target bagged another goal in Sevilla’s 3-0 win over Getafe last night.

It was his 17th goal in 16 starts this season and Sevilla’s third 3-0 victory in their last five games.

Moyes striker target bags another and is named La Liga player of the month

En-Nesyri scored two hat-tricks last month in what should have been a clear sign to Sullivan and Gold to back Moyes’s judgement.

He was then named La Liga’s Player of the Month for January before the victory over Getafe.

Now he will undoubtedly prove even more expensive come the summer, especially if he continues in his rich vein of form.

Sevilla now look highly likely to qualify for the Champions League. Meanwhile West Ham’s own dreams of achieving that feat in this wide open season took a hit with the fortunate draw at lowly Fulham.
