West Ham United’s January transfer window business could be about to ramp up in a very big way.

Graham Potter will be desperate to get some top quality signings over the line at West Ham before the January transfer window slams shut.

The new Hammers head coach has already made his intentions to strengthen his ranks very clear indeed.

Without getting some new faces through the door at the London Stadium, the second half of the season could well be very challenging.

I’m convinced that the future will be very bright with Potter at the helm.

However, failing to sign a top striker this month will definitely put the former Chelsea and Brighton boss behind the eight-ball.

If one report is believed to be true, Potter is desperate not to let that happen.

Michail Antonio won’t be back fit for at least another 10-12 months, whilst Jarrod Bowen and Niclas Fullkrug are also both out with serious injury problems.

That means Potter currently has Danny Ings as the only recognised striker at his disposal.

The 49-year-old will be under no illusions regarding the size of the task that lies ahead of him, and failing to sign a striker this month could well be his undoing.

It seems like Potter is determined to fix his side’s centre-forward weaknesses this month.

According to a report from The Daily Mail, West Ham have made an enquiry for Nice hitman Evann Guessand.

And the Hammers have been told to pay just £20 million for the red-hot striker.

The absolutely rapid striker has been in fine form for Nice this season, with nine goals and five assists in 25 games (Transfermarkt).

His pace is explosive and he possesses unbelievable movement.

Guessand is incredibly versatile as well. He’s a centre-forward by trade, but is equally comfortable playing on both wings.

Standing at 6ft 1in tall, he can mix it physically as well, and that will be crucial to his hopes of succeeding in the Premier League.

Described by Nice’s own website as ‘incredible, the 23-year-old Frenchman really does have it all.

Paying £20 million for Evann Guessand in the January transfer window seems like an absolute no-brainer for West Ham to me.
