West Ham linked with shock move to sign Tottenham star Sergio Reguilon

West Ham United are allegedly eyeing up a move to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon this summer.

That’s according to a report from 90Min who claim that the Hammers and Nottingham Forest are both showing interest in signing the 25-year-old Tottenham ace.

Reguilon joined Tottenham from Real Madrid in the summer of 2020 for around £28 million (talkSPORT).

He was initially a huge hit with Spurs but he has fallen well down the pecking order since Antonio Conte took over as manager in November last year.

He is now behind Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic in the battle for the starting left wing-back spot under Conte.

And it appears as though West Ham could try and take advantage of that situation…

West Ham eyeing Sergio Reguilon

90Min reckon that Hammers boss David Moyes wants to bring the 25-year-old Tottenham star to the London Stadium this summer.

Reguilon is an elite player and has all of the attributes that West Ham currently need.

The Spaniard has pace in abundance, exceptional technical ability and has the energy and stamina needed to play in either the left-back or left wing-back positions.

We just can’t see this one happening unfortunately…for two reasons.

Firstly, West Ham and Tottenham just don’t do business with each other. The last time it happened was way back in 2011 when Scott Parker swapped East London for North London.

And secondly, the Hammers have agreed a deal to sign Emerson Palmieri from Chelsea. And there is surely no way that Moyes would sign two left wing-backs.

Sergio Reguilon would have been an absolutely unbelievable signing for West Ham.

It is a story that doesn’t have any legs whatsoever in my opinion though.

And the West Ham fans will surely agree. Whether the six-capped Spain international ends up leaving Tottenham for another club like Forest remains to be seen though.
