Victor Camarasa appears to be angling for a move to the Premier League amid links with a West Ham switch. According to Estadio Deportivo, Camarasa is ‘counting on’ Leicester City, West Ham or Tottenham Hotspur to make a move for him.
Camarasa spent last season on loan at Cardiff City, impressing with five goals and four assists. But he could not prevent the Bluebirds from relegation and he has now returned to Real Betis.
His future at Betis is unclear and he seems to prefer a move to England. Leicester, West Ham and Tottenham have been linked with summer swoops for Camarasa, who hopes to return to the Premier League.
Where would Victor Camarasa fit in?
Camarasa is an impressive midfield playmaker but there are a few players with similar styles at West Ham. Pablo Fornals, Jack Wilshere and Manuel Lanzini all operate in that central midfield role and do Camarasa’s job.
The 25-year-old stood out in a poor Cardiff side last season so he clearly has the ability to play for a higher Premier League side. But he is not the player West Ham need right now.
It would be surprising if West Ham spend money on Camarasa this summer after landing Fornals. West Ham must now focus on signing a new striker and a holding midfielder before turning their attention to Camarasa.
If the Spaniard was available on loan again, this might be a good signing for West Ham later in the summer window to bulk out the squad.
